Grand Theft Auto is an explosion of violence, chaos and fun. It always has been. Equal parts Blowin-Shit-Up, Shootin-Shit-Up and Drivin'-Shit-Around, the franchise has massive appeal.
It's the Drivin'-Shit-Around part I'm poking about.
I wanted to ask, Oppo, what're your thoughts on the cars, the traffic and the driving dynamics? Do you have a favorite ride, and if so; what/why? Is the experience immersive enough, in terms of the driving aspect, that you're kept from being bounced out of the illusion? Are you willing to suspend your disbelief for the cargasm that is GTA 5?
I'm sure there were about a dozen GTA 5 threads already, but I was too busy not sleeping and playing the game to notice. So let's have another one.

I may not be very far into the game, but I've found I've used the characters main cars for nearly everything, I've kitted out Mike's "Obey Tailgater" in white with a black carbon roof.
It seems to be fast enough to get me out of trouble most of the time.
and I'm a big fan of the FG Falcon/4th gen Legacy-esque tail-lights

Ya'll need to stop it. I don't know how long I can go not buying this damn game. I bought the last 3 on release days... Too tired to actually respond so....

As a Mustang fanboi, I'll always be a fan of the Vapid Dominator.

Karin Futo. My favorite car in GTA V

I haven't had a chance to drive one in game yet, the only time I saw one I was too busy trying to shake the fuzz on a 4 star wanted level.
speaking of, I really like the new police car cone of vision, it means I can be a lot more creative when trying to lay low. There's been a few tense times when I've been hiding in a back alley waiting for them to pass before sneaking out behind them.

Find the tesla roadster equivalent, it's my favorite so far. Crazy fast and fun

I've always been a fan of a Banshee, but I just found and upgraded a Feltzer (you should see the spoiler you should put on it!). It basically screams Benz.

My favorite is probably Michael's wife's M3 looking thing, but other than that, I'd have to go with Trevor's Land Rover/Kaiser

Right?!
It makes such a big difference now that you can hide in a corner or an alley and that cone can pass right over you if you're not actually within the cops line of sight.
That said, it shocked me when I discovered that these cops will park their cars and start sweeping smaller alleys and they'll drive right down the bigger ones but it's all dependent on what you're doing or what you did - I've hid one alley over from where they were looking and been cleared while other times I've driven great distances to shake the cops, pulled into a back lot, and had them come sweeping for me.
It's the-rest-of-the-world dynamics that really make the game.
I stood, watching a man and women have a fight and then when he said something like bitch, or whore, or slut or something I just walked up and laid the guy out. That's the kind of fun that makes GTA games so great... you're a character in a world, not a character with a world built around it.

Huh. Don't think I've seen one yet, and I know I haven't driven one.
I'll keep an eye out.

The Banshee will forever have a special place in my heart as it goes all the way back to the very first GTA and was THE badass machine in that game.
The Feltzer, however, looks fucking amazing now. Clearly a Merc SL-Something knock-off but dayoum, sooo hawt sounding.

I haven't checked, but can you body mod the Kaiser?

I can't freaking get the helicopter to spawn with the cheat!
![]() 09/19/2013 at 00:39 |

I haven't used any cheats, so I wouldn't know...
... but, if it's anything like GTA 4, you need to be in an area with enough space to actually spawn the item, otherwise it fails.
Try going to a very, very open area and then initiate the spawn.

when I first got into one I thought my sound was bugging out. and was like OHHH it's a Tesla not a Lotus.

yeah, different fender flares, cages, step guards, bumpers etc.

Yup figured it out. Wasn't using a open enough space. Man this game is entertaining

I figured it was a tesla from the get go. Early on I got in another car that looked like a volt and was electric, which was an Ohhh electric cars moment for me.

"Hey guys, I've designed the least entertaining game ever, but I don't have a name for it."
"Here, let me have a quick play."
"Well?"
"This is the lamest game ever. Let's call it Not-Grand Theft Auto."

I was playing earlier and I got a GT3 RS style Comet, It's great to drive and it sounds amazing. Still looking for a Futo though...
As for the driving physics, does anyone else find the cars a lot less tail-happy than they were in 4? Drifting seems a lot more difficult, though maybe I'm just not used to it yet.
![]() 09/19/2013 at 01:18 |
|
The only way I can "drift" in GTA 5 is to powerslide with the e/parking brake. If there's a better way, I haven't found it. I've not been able to chain drifts, and even a single powerslide has proven difficult as the nose will suddenly snap around without warning.
Anyone else have a better formula?

The one thing I do not like is how every car in GTA 5 is either brand new, or a 60' muscle car.
I spend a long time looking for my favourite car from GTA 4, the Futo , but I could not find it...
I want my 80's and 90's cars back!
![]() 09/19/2013 at 08:44 |
|
Yeah, not a huge fan of that either. There are some of the 80's and 90's cars out there, but they're definitely few and far between.

The 911 knockoff is insane. Spins tires all day, but in GTA5, I've noticed that no cars have any real speed to them, top end wise. They all seem to get to a certain speed and stop accelerating pretty quickly. It's strange.
